In this video we're talking about something that I've never seen professional landscapers use but I think it's going to be a great tool for your collection we're talking about rotating scissors or reciprocating scissors so stay tuned but before we get started we want to hear from you we want to know some of your thoughts on this leave those down in the comments below would you consider using something like this with your business if you have one already and you use it what do you think of it let us know in the comments down below so this right here is an attachment that's part of Stihl's attachment capable series um this is their RG km reciprocating attachment and it really works like scissors giving you a nice clean cut of the of the turf and really leaving you with a nice clean finish now this tool was specifically designed for cutting low cut Turf like on a golf course and that's where this tool is mostly used however I have found this to be a great tool to use around the yard here for edging and even getting under really hard to get spots like underneath of a fence because you've got this thin profile here that can get underneath of small gaps like a fence that'll give you a nice clean cut without something like a weed whacker you know whacking against your fence and destroying the wood this will fit really nicely underneath of it in those tight spaces some of the other benefits that I like about this kind of unit is that you get a really clean cut this is like scissor action type cutting you're not going to be left with any Frayed Ends or anything like that and the turf will be healthier because of it you also have a lot more control with a unit like this if you're using it for edging or just kind of cleaning up in your beds and stuff like that this is going to give you total control you're not struggling with a string trimmer trying to to make sure it's lined up perfectly with the edge you can just line this up with the edge here and kind of cut neatly against it 100% control with this it's also cleaner in the sense that it's just going to drop the clippings immediately where you cut them unlike a string trimmer as you're trimming those clippings are kind of being blasted all over the place so those are the primary reasons why I like to go with this however there are some cons to it the biggest con probably being the price of this just the attachment alone for this steel unit here was something like $430 it is very expensive the other thing too there is a little bit more maintenance just like your hedge trimmers and stuff like that you do need to lubricate and clean these blades regularly there's a spray you can use to clean this after every use you want to make sure you're keeping this free and clear of any dirt it's really just meant to cut grass and then you have you know the gear Head here with a port to add grease similar to your string trimmer head you also need to grease this as well I've only seen a few manufacturers that have the version right here I think this one is steel but I think ego makes one um I believe Milwaukee is also coming out with one or if it's not it's already out already these are the reciprocating heads so the bottom blade and the top blade sort of like alternate with each other to give you that scissor cut action there's another company they're called like the rotary power scissors where you can it's just the head unit that you can take and and install on your regular shaft string trimmer that works as a rotary action so I think it's like one blade whether it's the top or the bottom continuously rotates um those are okay I've heard that they are extremely loud and scream as they spin around also the profile on that that version is a lot thicker so you may have a harder time if you're trying to use it for getting underneath of uh things like a fence or something like that it's not going to be as compact or thin as this one is and there you have it I hope you found this video helpful if you did please give it a thumbs up make sure to subscribe to ECHO Means Business and we hope to see you in the next video.
