Hey everyone, this is Jimmy Massey from Massey Landscape Service. In this video, I review and compare both the ECHO SRM-2320T and the STIHL FS 70 R string trimmers. You will see me trial both of these string trimmers in long, thick grass. I also go through the pros and cons of each string trimmer and ultimately decide which one is best for green pros.

So all right, now that you've seen what I did and did not like about both— Hold on, let's rewind.

Now that you've seen what I did and did not like about both pieces of equipment between the ECHO and the STIHL, I want to show you them too in action. So here you go.

We got—I don’t know, that’s a few feet right there. A few feet worth of grass right there.

We got a few feet over there. We’ll cut some of it up—we’ll cut this side up with, I don’t know, one of them, and then we’ll cut this side up with the other one.

And then that’s my comparison.

You can tell me what you think.

I hope you caught that whole thing because I forgot to move the camera.

But if you’re the naysayer that says that the STIHL is stronger—well, you may be right.

I did pull my string back in on the ECHO a little more because I have the Speed-Feed, so I can pull it in easily.

But for handling-wise, I absolutely love that ECHO.

And we’ll go back to the clip of me—possibly go back to the clip of me talking about each individual piece of equipment.

Hope you enjoyed the comparison-in-the-field video portion—part of the video.

A comparison video, as you’ve seen in the thumbnail, on the ECHO and the STIHL.

Now, this STIHL is an FS70R, and the ECHO is an SRM-2320T.

So both these guys—doing like a little comparison, stacked-up-together video here, right?

I think they’re both great trimmers.

There’s pros and cons about both of them.

The STIHL—I like the way the whole choking mechanism works on the STIHL.

The ECHO—I like it, but I think that the STIHL is more, uh, just all put together—if that makes sense. Don’t know how to explain that really. Hopefully it makes sense.

One thing that I’m not fond of with the STIHL is the handle that you hold.

I don’t like the fact that it’s very thin, and it has no grip.

It feels like—I'm sorry for the background noise, actually laying tile at my house today.

The ECHO handle I enjoy a lot more.

I feel like it’s more flexible, and it has that rubber grip on it.

It makes me feel like I have more control over it when I’m maneuvering the machine.

As far as the head goes on the STIHL—I am not a big fan of this head.

And that might be because I’m used to the ECHO.

I’m not a fan of it.

I feel like the weight difference is a little off compared to the ECHO and the STIHL.

I feel like the ECHO’s weight difference—with the Speed-Feed head, since it’s a little smaller—maybe that it’s just more balanced than the STIHL.

What I do like about the STIHL, though—a lot—is the trigger. I like it.

Feels nice. Doesn’t feel like it’s gonna break on me or anything like that.

I like the on and off button there, as you can see.

I like the pull cord on the STIHL. I do like that.

But all around—again—it’s a personal opinion.

So this is my comparison.

Personal opinion is that I just enjoy the ECHO a bit more.

Maybe because I’m used to the brand and whatnot, but it just feels better in my hands.

Feels like I have more control overall.

And one thing that actually is really something I do like—and I know I just said that I like the choke and all that stuff on the STIHL—but I like how everything is so open here on this ECHO.

You can get to everything really quick. You can see everything in there. The STIHL—you’d kind of have to break it open a little more to get to stuff or see stuff.

On the ECHO—obviously—you can see just about everything in there.

So that’s my thoughts. My comparison on the FS70R, which is that STIHL, and the ECHO SRM-2320T.

I think I would go with the SRM-2320T.

But again—personal preference.

I think they’re both great machines.

That’s it.
